Dodori National Reserve is a Kenyan protected area located in the Lamu East District of the Coast Province. It is home to a great range of wildlife. Founded in 1976, its 877 km2 comprises a significant woodland and forest ecosystem that has historically supported massive species, including elephants, lions, buffaloes, and coastal topics.
In addition to being managed by Kenya Wildlife Service, the Dodori National Reserve is also a part of a larger area that has been recognized globally as an important cultural heritage area and a prized conservation site by international organizations such as the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Conservation International (CI), and the World Wildlife Fund, among others. In 1980, the Dodori National Reserve was designated as a UNESCO Man and Biosphere Reserve, together with the adjoining Kiunga Marine National Reserve, for their conservation efforts.
