Nyeri Museum

In Nyeri, Kenya, there is a museum called the Nyeri Museum. The museum is devoted to Kenyan history as well as Kikuyu culture.

History
The museum building was completed in 1924, but it wasn’t until 1925 that it was used to settle common law cases.
The National Museums of Kenya took over ownership of the facility in 1997.
At the time, Kenya’s National Museums opted to repair the structure.
The museum was designated as national property in 2001.

In November 2019, Google teamed up with Kenya’s National Museums to launch a series of initiatives, including a modified version of Google Street View for the Nyeri Museum, allowing visitors to tour the museum’s rooms visually.

Collections The museum houses several objects relating to the Kikuyu people’s culture.

The museum’s Kikuyu culture exhibits include stools, handicrafts, shields, pictures, and sculptures.

The museum also has exhibits about Kenya’s independence struggle.
